Download & installation

HTML → Frames is two parts that work together: the Figma plugin you see, and a desktop app that renders pages in a real headless browser. The plugin can't import anything on its own — the app is where the work happens.

You install the app once, and it puts the Figma plugin on your machine for you.

Windows 10/11 · 64-bit · 23.8 MB

Download for Windows

Also needs Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge installed — the app drives your existing browser instead of downloading its own. There is no macOS build yet.

Verify the download (optional)

Compare the SHA-256 of the file you downloaded:

What you get for free

Downloading gives you the full converter — every import path, Auto Layout, vector icons, editable text, the lot. The free plan includes 10 imports per month, resetting on the 1st.

Pro removes the limit and adds full-resolution images, capture from your own browser via the Chrome extension, and style & variable generation. It's €50 once or €10/month — buy it from inside the plugin's help menu or the desktop app, then paste the key into the app.

Windows will warn you

The installer isn't code-signed yet, so Windows shows "Windows protected your PC" with Don't run as the default. Click More info ▸ Run anyway.

That message means Windows doesn't recognise the publisher — not that it found anything wrong with the file. Code signing is on the roadmap.

Requirements

Requirement
OSWindows 10 or 11, 64-bit
BrowserChrome or Edge installed — the app drives your existing browser rather than downloading its own
FigmaThe Figma desktop app — development plugins can't load in the browser version
EditorFigma Design files (not FigJam or Slides)

There is no macOS build yet.

1. Install the app

Run the installer, then launch HTML → Frames from the Start menu.

On first launch it creates a folder in your Documents:

Documents\HTML to Frames\
  READ ME FIRST.txt
Figma plugin\ ← you'll import this into Figma in a moment
Chrome extension\ ← optional, see below

Documents rather than a hidden system folder, because you need to reach the plugin folder from Figma's file picker.

2. Import the plugin into Figma

  1. Open the Figma desktop app.
  2. Go to Plugins ▸ Development ▸ Import plugin from manifest…
  3. Select manifest.json inside Documents\HTML to Frames\Figma plugin\.
  4. Run it any time from Plugins ▸ Development ▸ HTML → Frames.

You only do this once. Updates land in the same folder, so the path Figma remembers keeps working.

3. Keep the app running

The app is the render server. Leave it open while you work — it can sit in the system tray, out of the way. Closing the window doesn't stop it; use Quit on the tray icon for that.

The plugin shows a status pill at the top:

  • Server connected — ready to import.
  • Server not running — the app isn't up. Click Start app and the plugin will launch it for you, or open it from the Start menu and click Check.

Install the Chrome extension (optional)

The HTML to Frames Capture extension lets you capture any element from a page in your own browser — including pages behind a login — and import it with one click.

  1. Open chrome://extensions in Chrome.
  2. Enable Developer mode (top right).
  3. Click Load unpacked and select Documents\HTML to Frames\Chrome extension\.

How to use it is covered in Import a website URL.
